Step 2 : Select Reference Image
This is the foundation of your portrait. Because In-Focus commissions capture the smallest details, skin texture, reflections in the eyes, the softness of hair, a strong reference is essential.
Professional photography is ideal, but you can also achieve excellent results with your phone if you follow a few simple guidelines.
Lighting: Aim for a single, strong light source (natural daylight from a window works perfectly). Avoid multiple lights or overhead lighting which can flatten the image.
Focus & Resolution: Ensure the subject is in sharp focus. Modern phone cameras can achieve this, tap the subjects face on the screen before shooting.
Step closer to fill the frame, this helps me capture even the smallest details.
File Type: Send the highest-resolution version available (no screenshots or compressed versions from messaging apps).

In-Focus Commissions FAQs
Everything you need to know about this premium process.
1. What makes an In-Focus commission different?
These portraits demand significantly more time and precision. Every minute detail—textures, tones, and subtle contrasts—is carefully captured to create a one-of-a-kind, museum-grade artwork.
2. What kind of reference image do I need?
High-resolution photos are essential. Ideally, the image should have a strong single light source to create contrast and definition. Professional photography is excellent, but I can also provide guidance on achieving strong results with a phone camera.
3. How long should I expect the process to take?
Due to the level of detail involved, these commissions can take several months to complete. I’ll provide a clear timeline after reviewing your reference image and confirming the composition.
